ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Three people were hospitalized and several others evaluated after a fire broke out before 8 a.m. Thursday at the Potomac Falls Health and Rehab Center in Sterling, with officials working to ensure safety and begin reoccupying parts of the facility — updates are pending.  Inside Nova
  • On Thursday morning, a fire in a residential unit at the Potomac Falls Health and Rehab Center in Sterling led to three patients being taken to local hospitals and several others receiving treatment while investigators examined the cause and county emergency management ensured residents received needed medication.  Loudoun Now

  • Juleps Kentucky Tavern opened this week at Loudoun Station center off Shellhorn Road, offering Southern cuisine in a renovated space with leather booths and barrel-shaped light fixtures — a fresh dining option by local restaurateur Reese Gardner in Ashburn.  The Burn
  • Magnolia’s at the Mill will launch Maggie’s Corner Cafe in Purcellville at 713 East Main Street & Maple at the Shoppes, replacing Le Petit Loulou. The new cafe is set to open in spring with a menu of baked goods, salads and sandwiches.  The Burn

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Jan. 6, Loudoun County Public Schools swore in three new board members and re-elected two others, including Lauren Shernoff (Leesburg District). Chair April Chandler was elected by a 5-4 vote and the board set regular meetings for the second and fourth Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m.  Blue Ridge Leader

  • Dominion Energy’s Golden to Mars Transmission Line hearing resumed this morning at 10 a.m. in Loudoun County amid nearly 600 speakers voicing concerns over overhead lines planned near homes, schools + community areas, and testimony is expected to continue through next week.  Loudoun Now
