ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Jan. 27, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at the 41800 block of Inspiration Terrace that displaced residents in Aldie. Fire officials determined the fire was accidental due to combustible materials in a gas fireplace (no injuries were reported), though water damage affected nearby units.  Blue Ridge Leader

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Weird Brothers Coffee, with two locations in Herndon and a shop at the Village at Leesburg, plans to franchise by recruiting new operators to open in Virginia and Maryland. Paul Olsen said the expansion meets locals’ need for independent, specialty coffee (the chain began with his late brother Kenny).  The Burn

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Leesburg invites local 7th and 8th graders to submit 300-500 word essays for the Virginia Municipal League’s If I Were Mayor contest by Monday, Mar. 23; winners will receive gift cards + plaques, and past regional winners from Leesburg have raised high expectations, city officials said.  Blue Ridge Leader
  • School Board members finalized priorities for the proposed +$2 billion Loudoun County Public Schools budget for 2026-27 during their Jan. 29 meeting. They will vote on the final details soon as they plan for the next school year.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

HEALTH NEWS

  • Loudoun County is offering free behavioral health training sessions throughout February, including a virtual Adverse Childhood Experiences class on Feb. 9—registration ends Feb. 8—and an in-person Adult Mental Health First Aid on Feb. 6 at the county office. Rapid REVIVE and Suicide Prevention trainings are scheduled later in the month.  Blue Ridge Leader
