  • On Tuesday, Loudoun Cares held a ribbon cutting at its new office at 305 Harrison Street — expanding access to vital services like rent and utility support. Board Chair Ronnie Ward said the nonprofit looks forward to serving the community long term.  Loudoun Now
  • The NOVA Creative Reuse Center relocated to 3 W Market Street after a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 31. Executive Director Leah Cooper said the open layout — featuring abundant natural light — will help strengthen community connections.  Blue Ridge Leader

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Embassy Suites in Ashburn is exploring plans to add a 5,000 sqft restaurant adjacent to Ashburn Eats at 44610 Waxpool Road, and discussions are in the early phase. Details on whether the addition will be a new brand or an upgrade to Brickstones Kitchen & Bar have yet to be decided.  The Burn
  • Tuskie's, a longtime restaurant at Tuscarora Mill in downtown Leesburg, celebrated its 40th anniversary on Jan. 27 with a gathering of local friends, family and former staff; the milestone marks four decades of service in the area.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tim Jon recalls his first drive on Mount Gilead Road (2008) as a postal worker and describes scenic views along the Catoctin Mountains seen from a friend’s property. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Aaron Spence was named Executive Leader of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce for his leadership and support of students, staff & community partners.  Blue Ridge Leader
  • Loudoun County Public Schools approved a ($2.06 billion) budget for the 2026-27 school year on Feb. 3, setting the stage for expanded educational programs in the district. This move builds financial groundwork for future initiatives.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Leesburg Public Works cleared up to 36 inches of snow from downtown last week after a storm that brought frigid temperatures, using plows, snow blowers and a caterpillar end loader during long shifts to clear roads and sidewalks.  Loudoun Now
  • At a Jan. 13 meeting, Loudoun County supervisors approved $75,000 from the transient occupancy tax fund for a visitor profile study by Visit Loudoun to analyze visitor demographics and spending. The study will be completed by mid-March and its findings shared at Visit Loudoun’s annual meeting in April.  Blue Ridge Leader

HEALTH NEWS

  • Loudoun County has expanded the Network of Care online directory to provide searchable resources for behavioral health, substance use, and developmental disability services, making it easier for local families to access help (the platform supports multiple languages and requires no account).  Blue Ridge Leader

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Loudoun County Commissioner Robert S. Wertz Jr. announced that real estate assessments for tax year 2026 are available online with mailed notices starting Feb. 6 and property owners can file an online review by March 16 if they believe the values, reflecting 2025 market activity, are incorrect.  Blue Ridge Leader
