- ➤ Leesburg unveiled the Journey to Freedom Mural interpretive sign today at the Loudoun Museum. The sign explains the self-emancipation story and honors local figures Bazil Newman and Reverend Leonard Grimes with support from Santana Moss’s foundation. Loudoun Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Loudoun County School Board approved on Tuesday the formation of an Audit Committee to oversee the Auditor General’s Office and manage external auditing, and policy was amended to enable the new group to access relevant records. - ➤ Sheriff Mike Chapman presented a proposal for expanding Leesburg’s school resource officer program to elementary schools at a Feb. 25 town hall meeting. The plan (starting with $7 million in fiscal year 2027 and reaching $18 million annually) is under review by county supervisors as officials clarified officers would not enforce immigration laws.
