EDUCATION NEWS

  • The LCPS board recommended against placing police in 62 elementary schools for now but did not rule out a future review - the school system is carefully evaluating safety measures for the community.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Town of Round Hill is preparing grant applications to install carbon filtration at its Rt. 719 well and Goose Creek plant after tests showed PFAS levels exceeding future federal limits. Upgrades costing nearly $2.2 million may get funded when grant submissions open in August.  Loudoun Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Veterinarian Erika Friedrich, who has volunteered at the Iditarod since 2009, is named chief veterinarian to care for nearly 600 sled dogs in the 2026 race in Anchorage (leading a team of 45 professionals). The ceremonial start begins today at 10 a.m. with 37 mushers competing.  Loudoun Now
