  • Twisted Cat Tavern owners are expanding with a new location in Lovettsville at 20 Town Square by taking over the former Velocity Wings space. They plan a June opening with the same menu as the original Lansdowne site.  The Burn
  • Former Vino Bistro owner Michael Pearce announced that the Village at Leesburg restaurant is sold to new owners who will soon rebrand it as Falcon & Fig—a Mediterranean-inspired wine and tapas spot that will honor existing gift cards and maintain operations during the transition.  The Burn
  • Leesburg's 15-year-old entrepreneur Bellen Woodard is making an impact around the globe with her work from crayons to books as she serves as CEO, author and activist.   • Loudoun wineries won best in show and gold medals at the Governor's Cup Gala on March 12 in Richmond — an honor that highlights the county's winemaking excellence.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Six teams from Loudoun County elementary and middle schools advanced to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Ames, IA after earning top placements at the March 14 tournament at Tuscarora High School; the finals are scheduled for May 27 to 30 (teams will compete against hundreds from around the world).  Loudoun Now
  • Yesterday, the Loudoun County School Board Finance and Operations Committee reviewed a new OPEB policy draft to secure long-term funding for retiree health care (LCPS) and plan further revisions with public feedback still open for input.  Loudoun Now
  • Loudoun County Public School students posted a review of the school version of Grease at Riverside High School today, March 18, as part of the Cappies Awards program that honors high school theater across the region.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County’s annual Scrape for the Grape campaign begins Saturday, March 21 to battle spotted lanternflies that damage local vineyards and trees. Volunteers may sign up at wineries, HOAs, and vineyards across the county, with kid-friendly treats offered at select locations.  Loudoun Now
