  • A new bakery and cafe called Petit Sable with a French flavor is taking over the last vacant parcel on Highway 50 and Gateway Village Place next door to The Human Bean drive-thru in Loudoun County — franchisees will share more details on the menu and opening date soon.  The Burn

CRIME NEWS

  • Parents of 20-year-old college student Sudiksha Konanki sent a letter to Dominican police asking them to legally declare her dead after a 12-day search found no trace of her, and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received a similar letter noting that the person last seen with her is cooperating with the investigation—no evidence of foul play has been found.  WTOP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Loudoun County Public Schools has released a draft AI policy for public comment until March 28 that allows teacher-guided, division-approved use of AI tools in classrooms and includes plans for annual reviews and updates to academic integrity protocols—public feedback will help shape the final measures.  Loudoun Now
  • Trailside and Watson Mountain middle schools are piloting new schedules this year and have reported increased student achievement since the fall based on MAP data. Trailside uses an eight-period day with built-in support sessions and Watson Mountain employs an A–E day schedule while both schools plan to adjust the model next year based on survey feedback and academic results.  Loudoun Now
  • Tony Cimino-Johnson, a theater teacher at Rock Ridge High School, was named to the Northern Virginia 40 Under 40 Class of 2025. The award recognizes his work and highlights the impact of local educators.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County’s Board of Supervisors is planning to capture methane from the county landfill on Evergreen Mills Road in Leesburg and convert it to renewable natural gas—a project expected to start within the next five years. County officials said a request for proposal may be issued soon to install the needed equipment.  WTOP
  • On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors approved zoning and plan amendments that end data centers as a by-right use but let 22 existing applications submitted before Feb. 12 continue if they are more than 500 feet from homes—these projects will now be reviewed fully through public hearings rather than a staff-level process.  Loudoun Now
