- ➤ Purcellville town officials announced that the annual Independence Day Parade will move to June 27 — the change ensures essential resources remain available as regional celebrations draw key support on July 4. Loudoun Now
- ➤ Dr. Paul A. Tudder, a beloved Leesburg OB/GYN who delivered over 12,000 babies since 1983, passed away Sept. 9, 2025. A celebration of his life is planned for July in Leesburg (details forthcoming) as the community honors his decades of care. Blue Ridge Leader
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A third Wonder restaurant is planned for Ashburn at the former Bonefish Grill space at Broadlands Village Center, adding to locations in Leesburg and Sterling that are already in construction. No opening date has been set for the new site — stay tuned for updates. The Burn
- ➤ The Wonder multi-restaurant concept expands in Loudoun with two new sites under construction: a Sterling location at Cascades Marketplace with temporary signage and a Leesburg site at Fort Evans Plaza II with a permanent sign; both will support carryout and delivery orders via digital kiosks + online. - ➤ A slate of new restaurants is heading to a retail center under construction on Defender Drive in South Riding. Cold Stone Creamery, Smoothie King, Apna Pizza — Northern Virginia’s first — and Bayani Grill will join Haraz Coffee House and nearby fast-food outlets. The Burn
- ➤ Nominees for the Leesburg Business Awards have been announced and voting is underway. The event will take place at 6 p.m. May 6 at Shutters on King in Leesburg. Loudoun Times-Mirror
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Six elementary and middle school teams from Loudoun County Public Schools qualified for the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals after placing first or second in their challenges — they will soon compete with teams from across the region. Loudoun Times-Mirror
- ➤ Loudoun County Public Schools was recognized as one of 2025 Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation, honoring its strong commitment to high-quality music programs for all students. Blue Ridge Leader
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brian Boucher, a 30-year Town employee and Deputy Director of Community Development, was named a 250 Public Service Champion by Local Gov 250 and the National Academy of Public Administration, making him one of only six honored in Virginia. His work in planning and zoning helped guide Leesburg’s growth. Blue Ridge Leader
- ➤ County, school, and law enforcement leaders met on Monday in Leesburg to discuss school zone cameras that issued 3,074 speeding tickets since Aug. 21, 2025 and the proposal for a phased bus camera program pending a new county ordinance. Loudoun Now
- ➤ Purcellville Town Council accepted a donation of a warning track at Fireman’s Field that saved the town $189,000; however, a dispute arose over credit as Cannon’s Board Secretary Angela Kable Johnson said she arranged the donation. Loudoun Now
- ➤ Starting April 1, Loudoun County Transit will shift its commuter bus service from Dulles Transit Center to Loudoun Gateway Metrorail Station in Sterling and offer a 50% discount to seniors and those with disabilities using SmarTrip cards.
