- ➤ Dominion Energy submitted proposals to the State Corporation Commission that would raise the fuel rate on July 1 and request base rate increases of $8.51 in 2026 and $2 in 2027 for residential customers (to cover rising fuel, labor, and material costs). ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials said work to connect 118 homes near Hidden Lane Landfill with new waterlines will begin in June and take two years, after forever chemicals — PFAS — were found in 43 of 46 nearby wells while 40 homes used TCE treatment systems; cleanup efforts have removed 15,000 tons of contaminated debris and groundwater sampling is scheduled this summer. Property owners may choose to keep their wells for non-drinking uses, though contamination makes potable use not recommended. Loudoun Now

- ➤ County supervisors on Tuesday adopted the Fiscal Year 2026 budget of $4.7 billion that lowers the real estate tax rate to 80.5 cents per $100 of assessed value and cuts vehicle property rates so that homeowners will see a slight reduction in their bills. The board also transferred $8 million from its Revenue Stabilization Fund to a new contingency fund for public schools and updated its Capital Improvement Program to support $3.8 billion in county, school, and transportation projects. - ➤ Loudoun County scored 81 out of 100 on the 2024 Municipal Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign and the Board of Supervisors reviewed the report on April 1.
