ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Sheriff's Office said a fatal motorcycle crash occurred Thursday afternoon on Airmont Road near Bluemont when a 22 year old rider from Reston lost control, ran off the road and hit trees and a stone wall—witnesses are asked to call Detective Lotz at 7037771021.  Loudoun Now

  • Leesburg’s Shutters on King will open later this year in downtown Leesburg— the new restaurant and bar at the corner of South King Street and Loudoun Street will offer indoor dining, outdoor patios, and a large bar area in a historic building known for its black shutters. EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 3, more than 160 students competed in Loudoun Youth Inc.'s 15th Step Up contest at Morven Park where 48 teams submitted video projects and 20 teams advanced to in-person presentations. Financial Fortitude, a four-member team from Rock Ridge High and Stone Mill Middle that proposed earlier money management lessons, won $1,000 while runners-up earned $750 and two teams tied for third won $500.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County is holding an online surplus auction that features items like a 3-D printer, a free-standing punching bag, bicycles, power tools, computers, and vehicles. The auction will close at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 and buyers must register, pay a 9.75% premium, and pick up items by appointment at 14 Cardinal Park Drive in Leesburg.  Loudoun County
  • Loudoun County Circuit Court faces a large backlog of civil cases—officials are seeking additional judges to speed up the process.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
  • Hamilton resident Ryan Jones is developing a plan to restore electric train service along the W&OD Trail from Purcellville to Falls Church so that more local residents, including those at two stops in Leesburg, can have a faster option to Washington, DC. He founded the NOVA Transit Revitalization Advocacy Coalition and has already received support from the Hamilton Town Council, with plans to ask the county Board of Supervisors for a feasibility study.  Loudoun Now

  • Rock Ridge hired Mark Teague as its new head football coach; he leaves Manassas Park (2–18 record over two seasons) to replace Alex Urquhart (who led Rock Ridge to a 4–6 record in 2024).  Inside Nova
  • St. James Football Club earned a spot in the MLS Next League for the upcoming 2025-2026 season, which will provide national competition paths for U13 to U19 players on both boys and girls teams.
