BUSINESS NEWS

  • Taste Buds Kitchen will open a 2,600 sqft venue at the Loudoun Station development in Ashburn, and the culinary business is set to offer interactive cooking classes for families, kids, and adults. Comstock announced the new location on Gramercy Park Drive, while the opening date remains to be set.  The Burn
  • Staples Grocery Company is setting up a new gourmet market and restaurant at 42301 Spinks Ferry Road in Lucketts — the former site of Roots 657. The family-run venture offers a full kitchen, bar, and market for everyday staples, but no opening date has been announced.  The Burn
  • Shutters on King in downtown Leesburg now offers a weekday lunch menu featuring deviled eggs, crispy pork belly, oysters, and salmon salad. The restaurant serves the menu from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 102 South King Street.  The Burn

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Sweet Jazz Festival kicks off today and continues tomorrow from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott in Loudoun County — featuring live performances by local jazz artists.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The School Board’s committee recommended renewing the contract with Allied Universal for security guards who manage school visitors and assist at varsity football games at Loudoun County Public Schools. The $3M contract—providing a 2.6% hourly raise—will be approved at an upcoming School Board meeting.  Loudoun Now
  • State reps updated the Loudoun School Board on bills that would allow workforce housing on surplus school land, expand weekday SAT testing, count African American history for graduation, and pilot underground transmission lines near schools (pending Gov. Spanberger’s decision). Signed restaurant allergy signage rules were also announced.  Loudoun Now
