- ➤ An investment group took over Ion International Training Center on April 11—announcing that skating programs will be revived after months of uncertainty. The new owners plan to restore rink activities as they work to secure its future. Loudoun Times-Mirror

- ➤ Deputies responded just before 11 a.m. on April 10 to a trench collapse in the 19000 block of Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn—rescue crews extricated a worker who later died, and the Sheriff's Office is investigating the fatal incident with Virginia OSHA. Loudoun Now

- ➤ A new Rush Bowls restaurant will open April 26 at Ashbrook Commons in Ashburn, serving healthy bowls with fruits and grains — it marks the chain’s second location in town after Brambleton Town Center. On opening day, the first 50 customers will receive a free bowl. The Burn

- ➤ Loudoun County Public Schools approved changes to its grading policy this week that remove the 50% floor for AP classes and lower the retake ceiling to 70% — a move based on teacher and public feedback. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich offered a $3 million incentive to restart White’s Ferry service that carried 600 to 800 vehicles a day until it stopped in December 2020 after a dispute over landing rights. The county will provide technical assistance until July 1 — its final effort to resolve the dispute — to guide discussions between the parties involved. WTOP
- ➤ During National Crime Victims' Rights Week, Commonwealth's Attorney Bob Anderson hosted an awards ceremony that honored local service providers who help crime victims cope with tragedy. The awards recognized law enforcement officials, medical workers, and advocates for their work supporting victims in Loudoun. Loudoun Now
- ➤ At Tuesday's meeting, Purcellville Town Council voted to begin closing its police department to save over $3 million a year, and many residents along with Police Chief Sara Lombraña expressed deep concern. Mayor Christopher Bertaut said the move will shift services to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (though job transfers are not guaranteed) and lower water and wastewater rates while petitioners (a growing group) have decried the decision. - ➤ Maryland legislature and Montgomery County approved $3 million today to help restart White’s Ferry service, which closed in December 2020 after a court ruling on Virginia landing rights.
