- ➤ Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich offered $3 million to restart White’s Ferry service, which stopped in December 2020 when a dispute over landing rights emerged. The proposal—funded with $1.5 million from Maryland’s fiscal 2026 budget and $1.5 million from a county capital improvement amendment—includes DOT assistance until July 1, 2026 as the county works to resolve the disagreement between the ferry’s owners. - ➤ Last week, community members in Lovettsville expressed concern when a developer submitted a revised application to rezone a four-acre lot along Berlin Turnpike for an assisted living facility that would allow 80 residents and expand the building to two stories with a maximum average height of 35 feet. Town planning raised issues over parking, increased density, and utility risks—residents worry about the visual impact and traffic—and HK&S Services has pledged $183,000 to improve water system redundancy, though no additional funding has been identified.
