BUSINESS NEWS

  • Drybar announced it will soon open its first Loudoun County salon at One Loudoun in Ashburn—located next to the Alamo Drafthouse where an AT&T store once operated. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Last Friday, the Kuhn family offered to donate White’s Ferry to Loudoun County after Montgomery County did not move forward with its earlier donation plan—if accepted, county officials will work with Rockland Farms to settle the Virginia landing dispute and restart the service to preserve local history, save jobs, and reduce traffic on the Potomac River.  Loudoun Now
  • This morning, Loudoun County bus ridership doubled since January, leading to overcrowded buses and longer wait times for afternoon trips as 10 routes were removed since December. Many riders now plan to arrive earlier at stops and say the closure of a park and ride lot (Brambleton) has forced a shift in their commute, with delays reaching up to 17 minutes (at some stops).  Loudoun Now
  • County Supervisors approved the first phase of a two-phase plan to change data center rules in March and voted to send phase two to the Transportation and Land Use Committee at its May meeting—this phase will focus on site design, sustainability and utility standards.  Loudoun Now
  • Chuck and Stacy Kuhn have offered to donate the White’s Ferry operation and assets—valued at $4.5 million—to Loudoun County after Montgomery County declined a similar offer last year, aiming to reopen the historic crossing and save local jobs. County officials discussed the proposal and will address zoning challenges by transferring the Virginia landing from Rockland Farms to the county.  Blue Ridge Leader

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, May 3, the 100th Virginia Gold Cup races will take place at Great Meadow — a steeplechase event expected to draw over 50,000 people and top horses racing over hurdles. The event will also feature tailgate contests and parimutuel wagering that add to the excitement for local fans.  The Burn
  • Loudoun United merged with Virginia Revolution Soccer Club, a Leesburg youth organization, for the third change in controlling ownership as team president Niko Eckart said the move creates a pathway for local players to go pro.
