COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia awarded $855,000 in grants to 51 nonprofit organizations — each grant ranged from $5,000 to $30,000. The awards were given through its Community Investment Funds, Environment Fund and Ross-Roberts Fund for the Arts to support local programs.  Inside Nova
  • At the 2025 LoCo Disc Golf Club Ice Bowl, more than $41,000 was raised for Loudoun Hunger Relief — funds that will support local food assistance.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
  • Despite construction at Virginia Village shopping center, the Saturday morning tradition of the Leesburg Farmers Market continues as shoppers look for fresh produce. This week the Easter bunny joined the crowd and added a festive touch.  Loudoun Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Leesburg’s Seven Tea House earned three awards at the Global Tea Championship in Las Vegas—two for its Imperial Dragon Well tea and one for its Golden Spring Pu’er-shou—marking the first time a local tea shop has reached this honor and owner Cody Yu said the wins reflect the shop’s commitment to providing genuine tea experiences.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County will host free workshops for landlords and property managers to learn about the Housing Choice Voucher and Homeless Prevention programs. The in-person session will take place on May 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Rust Library in Leesburg and a virtual session will follow on May 14—attendees must register in advance.  Loudoun County
  • Loudoun County’s Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a change last week to add Montgomery, Frederick, and Prince George’s counties and Washington—DC to the list of comparator markets for employee pay plans. The update raises the target compensation range to keep wages at or above area averages.  Loudoun Now
  • Starting May 5, Loudoun County Transit will add four new commuter bus routes that serve peak travel hours from stops in Harmony, Leesburg, and Dulles to Washington, D.C. Two morning routes will depart at 5:30 a.m. and 5:50 a.m. while two evening routes will leave at 3:15 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.—fares are $11 with a SmarTrip card and $12 with cash.  Loudoun County
  • Starting Monday, May 5, Loudoun County Transit will add four commuter bus routes to boost peak hour service for rides from Loudoun to Washington, D.C. Two morning routes depart at 5:30 a.m. and 5:50 a.m. from Harmony Park and Dulles South Park and Ride, and two evening routes leave at 3:15 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.—with current routes remaining unchanged.  Blue Ridge Leader

  • Loudoun United FC and Virginia Revolution Soccer Club announced a merger aimed at forming a premier soccer institution managed by Virginia Revolution’s principal owner Jim Miller and based at the 37-acre RavenTek Park south of Leesburg—boosting local player development and community opportunities while the team tops the Eastern Division in the USL Championship.  Loudoun Now
