- ➤ The Loudoun County School Board approved renaming Frances Hazel Reid Elementary School to Mildred & Richard Loving Elementary School and will soon rename Mercer Middle School to Gum Spring Middle School due to links to a slaveholder and a racist past. - ➤ Leesburg Town Council approved the conceptual design for the Lassiter Way Beautification project on April 22 — a plan that adds road murals at the Loudoun and Market Street entrances, hanging lights, and landscaping enhancements. The murals will be referred to the Commission for Public Art while staff prepares a capital improvement project for the remaining work in the fiscal year 2027 budget. Loudoun Now
- ➤ Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Aaron Spence announced today that LCPS will not file the federal certification for DEI practices because the language is vague and does not add to existing civil rights laws.
