ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday night, April 23, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue battled a heavy blaze at a Sterling home on Applegate Drive that displaced a family of five while investigators probed the cause and estimated damages at $694,000—no injuries were reported. Blue Ridge Leader

- ➤ Construction is moving quickly at the new Paris Baguette in Leesburg + the exterior sign has been installed at its location in the Shops at Russell Branch retail center where the owner said customers will be welcomed starting in June. The Burn
- ➤ Developer Kevin Ash gave a tour of the under-construction Hotel Burg in downtown Leesburg—set to feature a luxury boutique hotel, gourmet restaurant Huntōn, a bar called The Diana Lounge and a private social club named The Chase—while local residents learned the project is themed to hunting traditions and will include 39 guest rooms, fitness facilities and a rooftop lounge, with reservations already open and an August opening planned if construction stays on track. - ➤ The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter of the Virginia Sons of the American Revolution held a commemoration on April 19 at Champ Farm near Aldie to honor the 250th anniversary of the 1775 battle at Lexington. British Army reenactors and militiamen fired muskets in simulated volleys — a live reminder of the historic fight. Blue Ridge Leader

- ➤ The county’s Office of Elections hosted an open house in Leesburg this week where community members learned how voter lists are maintained and staffing on Election Day is planned. Tour groups visited four stations to see registration procedures, ballot counting, and other election processes—providing a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into a local election. - ➤ Starting May 1, open burning will be prohibited in Loudoun County including Leesburg, Lovettsville, Middleburg, Purcellville and Round Hill with exceptions for campfires used for cooking and for portable fireplaces that follow manufacturer instructions. The Fire Marshal warns violators may face a Class 1 misdemeanor with fines up to $2,500, up to a year in jail and additional firefighting costs—questions should be directed to 703-737-8600.
