- ➤ Loudoun County launched a project to lessen airplane noise near Dulles International Airport’s Runway 30 following a community meeting this month, and a design group will examine flight paths and propose changes to the FAA by late summer+ additional meetings will update residents on progress. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested eight men for allegedly trying to exploit children online—seven are held without bond at the Adult Detention Center while one is at Montgomery County Detention Center after an April investigation with local and federal partners. Loudoun Now
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Commission on Public Art and Friends of Leesburg Public Arts will hold a ribbon cutting at 3 p.m. today at Georgetown Park to celebrate the new sculpture (Love Will Always Grow Here) by local artist (Alyssa Imes Welti), whose design features the state Dogwood and Cardinal and was approved last June with installation completed in March. - ➤ On Wednesday at Morven Park, the Loudoun Chamber hosted its inaugural National Civics Bee where 21 middle school students answered 20 questions about civics. Eighth-grader Yousef Kiani won a $500 prize and will represent the county in the state finals on June 7 in Williamsburg — other top scorers also received prizes. Loudoun Now

- ➤ Loudoun County officials are studying Route 9 traffic to see if new road changes may alter the rural feel of western Loudoun—traffic-calming measures have pushed vehicles onto smaller roads from Maryland and West Virginia. - ➤ Loudoun County is starting a pilot bicycle exchange program where residents can drop off working pedal bikes and pick up a used bike for free at the county landfill near the free compost and mulch area at 21101 Evergreen Mills Road—only pedal-powered bicycles in good condition will be accepted.
