- ➤ Loudoun County Animal Services will host a free pet adoption event at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter on Adoption Drive in Leesburg from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025—adoption fees are waived for all available pets including cats, kittens, dogs, small pets and livestock—adopters will receive a starter supply bag with free dog training classes for those taking home a dog. - ➤ Leesburg Movement announced today that it hired its first executive director—Erin Weston, who has years of marketing experience—to lead downtown projects and improve the main street area. The group will also launch a restaurant week in July and bring back the annual Sidewalk Sale in August to support local businesses. Loudoun Now

- ➤ Onelife Fitness will take over two large spaces in Ashbrook Commons in Ashburn – previously home to HomeGoods and AC Moore – to open a new gym featuring over 47,000 square feet of equipment, group fitness rooms, an indoor pool, and locker rooms with showers and saunas. The company, which already runs gyms in Sterling and Brambleton, has not announced an opening date. The Burn

- ➤ Andrew Corbman, 53, from Ashburn was sentenced to three years in federal prison for fraud that led to losses of over $4 million from clients, and he was ordered to pay $4.15 million in restitution (he misled them with false financial advice while concealing his barred status). Loudoun Now
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A historical marker was unveiled Friday on Featherbed Lane to honor the restored Pratt truss bridge over Catoctin Creek—one of the longest metal truss bridges still in use that underscores local efforts to save history. The marker, approved by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, marks the final step in a long preservation effort for this important structure. Loudoun Now

- ➤ Leesburg’s soon to arrive semi-pro women’s basketball team launched a crowdfunding campaign this morning to raise $1,000 a day until it meets a $30,000 goal (the only women’s semi-pro team in Loudoun County). Owner Ashley Korateng said funds will support community programs, coach hires, and an expanded support staff before the team begins play on July 5 (including a performance partner and dedicated medical support).
