ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An ambulance fatally struck a pedestrian on Rt. 7 near Loudoun County Parkway around 9:45 p.m. yesterday—deputies closed the eastbound lanes for more than five hours as they investigated the crash before reopening the road just after 3 a.m. Loudoun Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, Loudoun County started the Blue Envelope Program to help people with communication challenges during police stops—individuals pick up free blue envelopes that share their needs and key documents, allowing deputies to adjust their approach. Deputies also receive training on communicating with people who have disabilities to make interactions safer. WTOP
- ➤ Leesburg leaders celebrated the groundbreaking of the 86-acre Veterans Park adjacent to Ball’s Bluff Battlefield on Saturday, marking the start of a project first planned in 2000. Phase One will build a two-lane, three-quarter-mile access road, parking areas and a boat ramp for non-motorized watercraft while Phase Two is planned for fall to add roadway upgrades, extra parking and a picnic pavilion — officials said the park will benefit the community for generations.
