Leesburg leaders celebrated the groundbreaking of the 86-acre Veterans Park adjacent to Ball’s Bluff Battlefield on Saturday, marking the start of a project first planned in 2000.
Phase One will build a two-lane, three-quarter-mile access road, parking areas and a boat ramp for non-motorized watercraft while Phase Two is planned for fall to add roadway upgrades, extra parking and a picnic pavilion — officials said the park will benefit the community for generations.
