  • The Loudoun Coalition on Women and Girls honored seven inductees into the Loudoun Women’s Hall of Fame at an event at River Creek Country Club in Leesburg—each woman was recognized for her contributions to the community.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

  • Yoder’s Dutch Delights, a Northern Virginia doughnut concept that began as a food truck and recently opened its first brick and mortar store in Manassas Park, will soon open an outlet at One Loudoun’s Container Park in Ashburn using a shipping container space.   • Today, Leesburg Police partnered with Target and the county attorney’s office to hold a forum with local retailers to discuss organized theft and ways to quickly report crimes. Officials explained cases where shoplifters used tricks like hiding items in clothing and stressed that fast reporting may help recover stolen goods.  Loudoun Now

  • Leesburg writer Cullen Gray will launch an immersive theater experience themed on The Great Gatsby on May 29—inviting audiences to step into the Roaring Twenties with live performances. The production will offer an interactive take on the classic novel for local visitors.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Loudoun leaders warned that federal spending cuts may soon impact local jobs as nearly 61,000 residents work for the federal government or its contractors and an IT firm on Ridgetop Circle filed a WARN notice to lay off 217 employees—its first such report. County officials said rising unemployment and more county job applications signal growing economic uncertainty in the area.  Loudoun Now

  • The Loudoun County Circuit Court appointed Stafford Commonwealth’s Attorney Eric Olsen as the special prosecutor in a recall petition against Purcellville’s mayor, vice mayor, and two councilmembers after Brian Morgan submitted his petition on April 28—General Registrar Judy Brown later extended the signature deadline to May 15.  Loudoun Now
  • Leesburg Town Council received an informational briefing Monday on options for permanent retractable traffic barrier systems on King Street and town staff recommended using mobile vehicle barrier kits from Meridian Rapid Defense Group. The briefing reviewed fixed barrier choices costing $180,000 to $630,000 — noting challenges such as utility relocations — and Mayor Kelly Burk said she did not believe the council would move forward with a permanent system.  Loudoun Now

  • Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed a bill that will allow Virginia health insurance plans to cover IVF treatments, giving families a new option for fertility care that will take effect in the future.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
