BUSINESS NEWS

  • Restaurant Foraged at Patowmack Farm in rural Loudoun County is now open and will hold its grand opening next Thursday, May 21. Tickets cost $90 and include heavy passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations and an open bar featuring Virginia wines + seasonal cocktails.  The Burn
  • Staples Grocery Kitchen & Provisions opened its doors yesterday (Thursday, May 14) at the former Roots 657 spot at 42301 Spinks Ferry Road near Lucketts. The country market offers breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, an onsite market and full bar.  The Burn

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Loudoun County school board members from Leesburg and Dulles released a proposal for a 2028–29 school calendar that limits holidays to federal ones on Thursday. The new schedule would run from Aug. 14, 2028 to June 5, 2029 with planned breaks in November, December, and March–April.  Loudoun Now
  • The Loudoun County School Board will change attendance zones for elementary schools in eastern Loudoun this fall — public hearings and work sessions are planned for October and November, with the preferred map set for adoption in December. Some schools will see no changes as officials note many are not at capacity.  Loudoun Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In April, over 300 residents attended three public meetings organized by the Loudoun County Preservation & Conservation Coalition to review a study showing declining groundwater levels amid increasing wells — raising concerns over future water shortages. They urged the county to ask DEQ to establish a Groundwater Management Area.  Blue Ridge Leader

  • Crews began operations yesterday at Round Hill’s new fire-rescue station — located on West Loudoun Street — which replaces the historic Main Street Station established in 1938; a formal hose-uncoupling ceremony is planned for July.  Loudoun Now
