ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • State troopers are investigating a May 19 crash in Sterling when a 13-year-old girl riding a scooter was struck by a westbound vehicle at the intersection of Nokes Boulevard and City Center Boulevard at about 7:30 p.m. Monday—she sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital—after the driver stopped at the scene.  Loudoun Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Leesburg police are investigating a hit-and-run crash on Catoctin Circle after a bicyclist was struck by a gray compact SUV Friday night (at the intersection of Industrial Court just before 10:30 p.m.) and the injured woman was taken to a hospital while officers seek the driver.  Loudoun Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A group of Loudoun County parents asked Attorney General Jason Miyares to investigate why Rock Ridge High School’s theater teacher Tony Cimino-Johnson was placed on leave after they claim LCPS staff may have provided misleading information. Some parents plan to support his reinstatement and even take legal action against the district — a move they believe is necessary to secure a fair hearing.  Inside Nova

  • Leesburg’s Planning Commission approved a drive thru window for a proposed 10000 square foot building with a fast food spot at Shenandoah Square Shopping Center on May 15. Deputy Planning Director Brian Boucher said the project is expected to generate about $89000 in tax revenue and must meet three conditions to conform to submitted plans — ensuring the building fits the town’s design goals.  Loudoun Now
  • On Tuesday morning, Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System and the Sheriff’s Office practiced water rescue skills at Beaverdam Reservoir by simulating the rescue of two individuals and the recovery of a hypothetical drowned person—exercise leaders say the drill tested an updated response plan following recent changes by NOVA Parks and will lead to improved communication between teams.  Loudoun Now
  • The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office released its first-ever public strategic plan on Monday that outlines changes such as adding School Resource Officers to elementary schools from 2026 if requested by the School Board and improving dispatch integration with Leesburg Police. The plan details additional priorities for the coming years—expanding jail programs, upgrading court security, developing a real-time crime center, and launching a drone first responder program—to build a safer future for the community.  Loudoun Now
