- ➤ The Museum of Hounds & Hunting North America will open Messages in Bronze on Saturday, May 24 at Davis Mansion in Morven Park in Leesburg to mark its 40th anniversary and Memorial Day Weekend events. The exhibition will feature sporting art by Charles Cary Rumsey and includes key works such as The Old Virginian (a bronze sculpture of a horseman with hounds). Blue Ridge Leader
- ➤ The 18th annual Western Loudoun Art & Studio Tour will run June 6, 7 and 8 and will feature 41 local artists in 24 private studios and 2 art centers where visitors can see many types of art. Select studios will open on Friday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — free brochures and maps will guide visitors through four regional clusters of the tour — offering a unique way to enjoy local creativity. - ➤ On May 20, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced that the rehabilitation of the Middleburg St Louis Road bridge over Goose Creek is complete, improving safety and providing a smoother ride for 3,300 daily vehicles. The $4.3 million project began in January 2024 and replaced concrete beams with steel beams, renewed the deck, and repaired piers to extend the bridge's life while finishing on time and under budget by Martins Construction. - ➤ On May 20, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved $3,843,038.65 in grant funding for human services nonprofits (FY 2026) after a competitive process. Forty-five organizations will receive standard grants capped at $113,000 and four smaller groups will get mini-grants of $5,000 to support services for the county’s underserved residents. - ➤ On May 15, Congressman Subramanyam and Congressman Newhouse introduced the bipartisan AGRITOURISM Act to create an Office of Agritourism at the USDA—aiming to help local agritourism businesses access federal resources like loans, grants, and broadband support. Blue Ridge Leader
