BUSINESS NEWS

  • Shah's Halal Food is opening its first Loudoun County location at Ashburn Farm Market Center in the renovated former Accord Grill space. The restaurant is installing its signature decor & sign and is expected to open soon.  The Burn

CRIME NEWS

  • Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies responded on May 22nd at the Bank of America branch on Davenport Drive in CountrySide after an armed robbery was reported just after 3 p.m.—the suspect, a white male wearing a black face mask and jacket with gray pants and a backpack, left in a gray Ford Escape with no tags while deputies using K9 units and drones continue to search and ask anyone with information to call Detective Wilhelm.  Loudoun Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Loudoun County approved a $1.5 million investment to build a new state-of-the-art museum and visitor facility on the historic grounds of Dodona Manor — the former home of the estate. The Marshall Center Museum plans will proceed to attract more visitors once construction begins.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday night, the School Board voted unanimously to renew Loudoun’s contract with Fairfax County Public Schools for Thomas Jefferson High School—covering tuition and transportation for 2026–2027—while some members questioned if the cost and declining enrollment made it the best long-term choice. They said the county’s growing programs and further data review will help decide future steps.  Loudoun Now

FINANCE NEWS

  • Loudoun Credit Union held its annual meeting this week to celebrate its plans to return to a downtown Leesburg office after 15 years and boost local small business lending. CEO Michael Falvey said the credit union—set to launch a small business banking program early next year—earned praise from local officials for its commitment to community growth.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County supervisors awarded a $13.3 million contract to General Excavation Inc. to build a single-lane roundabout at the Rt. 9 and Rt. 287 intersection near Wheatland; the project will add traffic light modifications + roadway and drainage improvements, and construction is set to begin this summer and finish by mid-2027.  Loudoun Now
  • A Board of Supervisors committee recommended changes last night to allow 4.5 miles of equestrian trails at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve. County staff and the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Board support option 4 + further research to update the preserve master plan pending a review by the Virginia Outdoors Foundation.  Loudoun Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • The DAR Ketoctin chapter and the American Red Cross hosted a blood drive at Rust Manor in Leesburg on May 22nd and collected 35 pints of blood to mark the 144th anniversary of Clara Barton founding the Red Cross. Organizers plan three additional drives on June 12th, Aug 20th, and Nov 11th to help meet growing local donation needs — an effort aimed at preventing shortages during busier times.  Loudoun Now
