ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Leesburg law enforcement officials urged drivers and pedestrians to exercise extra caution heading into Memorial Day weekend after deputies responded to multiple pedestrian collisions on May 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, and 19—one incident on May 20 claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl struck outside a crosswalk while another fatal crash on May 9 involved a man on Rt. 7.  Loudoun Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hotel Burg — a 39-room boutique hotel in downtown Leesburg — is accepting reservations for stays beginning Aug. 1st, and it will feature a hunting-inspired restaurant — a key element adding local flavor — along with a rooftop bar exclusively for guests.  Loudoun Now
  • Hotel Burg on South King Street now accepts reservations for stays starting August 1. The 39-room boutique hotel features local art, dining options with a MICHELIN-star chef, and special spaces for guests and locals (including a rooftop bar and exclusive lounge) that will add a refined touch to Leesburg.  Loudoun Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Leesburg resident AJ Perez worked with EverWonder Studio & fellow producers to create a new Netflix documentary titled 'Untold: The Fall of Favre' that examines former Packers quarterback Brett Favre's legacy, including a text scandal and alleged welfare fraud. The film, released this week and seen in Netflix’s Top 10 as of Friday, offers insights into his career & ongoing investigations.  The Burn

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Dulles South School Board will vote on June 10 on five proposals that change attendance zones to ease overcrowding at middle and high schools starting in the 2026 to 2027 school year. Some parents and community members worry the changes may split close-knit neighborhoods — a final public hearing is set for June 2.  Loudoun Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Community members gathered on May 22 at the Academies of Loudoun to learn about county sustainability initiatives led by the Loudoun Environmental Commission and state officials. Keynote speaker Mike Rolband and various breakout sessions discussed energy programs, invasive plants management, and data center heat export—efforts that have improved permit processing and enforcement actions.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A recent report from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments found that Loudoun County’s homelessness count dropped from 303 persons in 2024 to 252 in 2025 (a 17% decrease). The report explains that local programs and partnerships continue to provide housing support to residents in need.  Loudoun County
  • On May 6, the sheriff reported his office made 7,088 stops between January and March—up from 4,290 last year—to better use data and send deputies to busy areas. Local residents and an advocacy group say that more stops in parts with higher Hispanic populations show unfair treatment.  Loudoun Now
  • VDOT finished repairs on the St. Louis Road over Goose Creek bridge this week to extend its life and improve travel for drivers. The $4.3 million project replaced old concrete beams with steel beams, installed a new deck, and fixed the piers — work done under budget by Martins Construction on a bridge built in 1969 that sees about 3,300 vehicles daily.  Loudoun Now
