ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Three collisions involving pedestrians and cyclists occurred over the holiday weekend—one on Saturday just after 7 p.m. near Ashburn Boulevard and Bruceton Mills Circle with an adult hospitalized, another on Sunday after 10 p.m. near Crossroads Drive and Claiborne Parkway without emergency services being needed, and a third on Memorial Day around 9:30 p.m. near Northstar Boulevard and Soave Drive where a cyclist was injured and taken to a hospital, and officials reported that May had seen at least 11 incidents with two fatal outcomes while urging caution. - ➤ Leesburg photographer Jim Clark—who began exploring nature photography as a child—received the NANPA Lifetime Achievement Award for his nearly 50-year career in conservation and writing. - ➤ Purcellville Town Attorney John Cafferky resigned during Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting after serving two years—he said his rising workload and need for more family time led him to step aside, and he will remain until a replacement is found. Town officials will review legal support options and consider whether to hire a part-time in-house attorney or continue with the contracted firm. Loudoun Now
- ➤ County Administrator Tim Hemstreet announced that David Short will lead the Office of Emergency Management, Safety and Security starting June 5. Short brings over twenty years of emergency management experience as Sterling Volunteer Fire Company chief and an emergency consulting firm president — he will work to improve county safety and coordinate responses to emergencies. - ➤ Dominion Energy revealed plans for a new 36.5-mile transmission line that will run from Morrisville to Wishing Star — the route will mainly traverse Fauquier and Prince William counties with less than five miles in Loudoun. The company received community feedback last week and will submit an application to the State Corporation Commission in July, with construction set to begin by March 2027 if approved. Loudoun Now
