BUSINESS NEWS

  • Owners Favio Garcia, Travis Thompson, and Michelle O’Brien of Dynasty Brewing, which operates a facility in Ashburn and a taproom in downtown Leesburg, are weighing changes as their Ashburn lease nears its end—options include a sale, new partners, or a new operator, and no final decision has been made yet.  The Burn
  • A new women's clothing retailer named Offline by Aerie will open at Leesburg Premium Outlets along the Leesburg Bypass next to its sister Aerie store. The store will offer activewear like leggings, sports bras, and athletic wear (a brand of American Eagle Outfitters) and is currently listed as coming soon.  The Burn

CRIME NEWS

  • An Alexandria-area man, Lathius Martin (40), was indicted Monday by a Loudoun grand jury on charges of malicious wounding and stabbing in commission of a felony in connection with a March 1 incident in Sterling that left Wesley Richard Scott dead; he is set to appear in court on June 18.  Loudoun Now
  • A Loudoun grand jury indicted two men for a December road rage shooting in Sterling where deputies responded to shots fired at a vehicle with no injuries reported—Jimmy Paredes Madrid, 30, faces six charges including malicious shooting and is set to appear in circuit court Thursday at 9 a.m. while Aldo Betancourth Rivera, 34, is charged with malicious shooting and his trial is scheduled for Jan 6-7.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County Transit and Commuter Services will launch a free Transit Travel Training Program in June to help residents learn to plan trips, read schedules, and board buses safely — the program will offer both classroom and on-the-bus sessions aimed at boosting independence and access to vital services.  The Burn
  • Leesburg utilities staff presented an evaluation of the Richmond water emergency after a power generator switch failure caused flooding and a five-day boil water advisory on Jan 6. They explained that Leesburg’s water plant is prepared with staff training, routine testing, and system redundancies — safeguards that help avoid a similar incident.  Loudoun Now
  • Leesburg Town Council reviewed a traffic study by Transportation Engineer Geoff Giffin of Kimley-Horn that recommended converting three downtown streets—Wirt, Liberty, and Royal—to one-way traffic. Staff will move ahead with the next phase as council members weigh the study’s safety and traffic flow benefits—some members ask for more data before final approval.  Loudoun Now
