  • Leesburg’s Village at Leesburg will host Plaza Party with free live music every Friday through August as owner Rappaport pays for concerts to draw several hundred people, with nearby restaurants serving food and drink and the Lenny Burridge Band set to perform on June 13 (marking the event's seventh year).  WTOP
  • Providence Baptist Church in Leesburg celebrated its 150th anniversary on June 6 — local elected leaders Revs. Corey and Jamilla Gault joined members of the congregation to mark the milestone.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Loudoun County Public Libraries launched a fantasy-themed summer reading program called Realm of Stories with nine weeks of free family-friendly events — events that will run through the summer.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
  • Eight students from Patriot High School’s FCCLA advanced to the National Leadership Conference in July while their chapter earned recognition (a membership award and an Outstanding Platinum Chapter Award) and acknowledged 20 Power of One completers. Two Patriot middle school students also advanced and leadership roles shifted as Olivia Tiscenko concluded her state officer term and Cameron McGee was elected vice president of programs for Virginia FCCLA.  Inside Nova

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County launched an interactive online platform that displays its updated zoning ordinance with research tools for finding zoning districts and land uses — the update replaces the old PDF version and follows a four-year review process that ended with adoption in December 2023.  Loudoun County
  • After a security evaluation and a closed session with county judges Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors finance committee recommended permanently closing Church Street next to the courts complex to improve safety—County Chair Phyllis Randall said the move would protect all building users and the proposal will now go to the Leesburg Town Council for review despite local concerns about neighborhood disruption.  Loudoun Now
