- ➤ Cool Springs Distillery, a family-run business on a picturesque 100-acre farm in Lovettsville, opens today at 12:30 p.m. with a soft grand opening featuring live bluegrass, blues music and food. - ➤ On June 13, the remains of Eliza Kortright Monroe were brought to the Oatlands carriage house in Loudoun County in a small gathering that marked her return to the United States 185 years after her death in Paris—supporters and Monroe descendants praised historian Barbara VornDick's years of research that will lead to her reinterment with her family at Hollywood Cemetery. - ➤ Eliza Monroe’s remains were brought to Dulles Airport late last month after retired teacher Barbara VornDick led a study to locate her living family and secure approvals from Virginia agencies. - ➤ Loudoun County leaders are launching work on the second phase of Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance amendments to regulate data centers and related infrastructure—focusing on design details like noise, energy options, parking, and onsite power generation. The new phase will be reviewed by the Transportation and Land Use Committee before full board approval and is expected to finish by the end of 2026. Loudoun Now
- ➤ The county will hold a public hearing on June 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 801 Sycolin Road in Leesburg to discuss changes to the Solid Waste Management Plan that raise landfill capacity by 6,140,000 cubic yards—enough for 46 years of debris—and the public may submit feedback online until July 11. - ➤ County supervisors debated a proposal to convert a Hiddenwood neighborhood into flex industrial or commercial space and will vote on the plan on July 15 — the application seeks to rezone 20 parcels for up to 334,000 square feet of use as local property owners push for relief from ongoing construction and noise disruptions. - ➤ After years of work, the county Planning Commission approved the small area plan for the Village of St. Louis last night.
