ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Leesburg Police investigated a fatal crash on June 12 at 11:35 p.m. near the intersection of the Leesburg Bypass (Route 15) and Edwards Ferry Road NE when a passenger vehicle struck 24-year-old Ashlin Barraclough, who died at the scene; the driver remained and is cooperating with the investigation.  Inside Nova

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dominion Energy buries its distribution lines in Loudoun, cutting outage times from 11 hours to two minutes after storms. The project, started in 2014 and charged at just over $4 per monthly bill (with Dominion covering overhead removal), uses drilled holes and conduit for quick repairs.  Loudoun Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Jairo Amaya Sorto turned himself in at Leesburg Police Department Headquarters on Sunday — he faces charges for the May 8 armed robbery at the Sheetz on Edwards Ferry Road — and is held without bond at Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County will host a public design hearing on the Northstar Boulevard Widening project on July 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at John Champe High School cafeteria in Aldie—community members can review materials and submit comments by August 19th.  Loudoun County
