COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Inova Health System announced more than $1 million will be awarded to community nonprofits—this funding comes from its Community Health Opportunities Funding program and will help local groups improve health services.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

  • Regency Furniture is closing its showroom at the Potomac Run Plaza on Route 7 in Sterling; the store, which opened in 2019 in a space that once housed Toys R Us, will finish selling its inventory before a final closing day is set in the next five to seven weeks + shoppers may see changes in the center’s mix of retailers.  The Burn

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today a march was held in Leesburg from the Charles Hamilton Houston Courthouse to Raflo Park to mark the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth, with organizers from the Loudoun Freedom Center and Loudoun NAACP urging residents to honor Black history and address modern challenges—Sen. Tim Kaine and local speakers criticized plans to revert recent military base renamings tied to Confederate associations.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors awarded the annual Restricted Transient Occupancy Tax tourism grants to 16 organizations for Fiscal Year 2026. The grants will support local tourism initiatives and boost travel opportunities.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
  • Loudoun County supervisors approved a new arts plan Tuesday night to boost public art and support local artists with new spaces and programs, including a $500,000 study for an eastern arts center. The 90-page plan was made with input from focus groups and surveys — board members said they will review future spending on arts projects.  Loudoun Now
  • Last night, the Round Hill Town Council approved its fiscal year 2026 budget—keeping the 6.6¢ real estate tax rate, starting a meals tax in January, raising water rates by 11% and leaving sewer rates unchanged—while expecting a 3.2% boost to the General Fund and increased real estate and personal property tax revenue.  Loudoun Now
  • Supervisors approved a $2 million program to remove invasive plants after 18 months of planning with Mike Littman and the local alliance to boost public awareness and decrease health risks like Lyme disease transmission. The program will fund removal and replacement projects—supporting pilot projects, temporary staff and ranking criteria for landowners to monitor invasive species over three years.  Loudoun Now
