GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Loudoun County Department of General Services is holding a public hearing today to consider an amendment to the Solid Waste Management Plan that will increase landfill capacity by 6,140,000 cubic yards as authorized in 2020. The meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. at 801 Sycolin Road in Leesburg—public comments may also be submitted online through July 11.  Loudoun Now
  • The Town of Leesburg installed an electric vehicle charging station on Lassiter Way with two converted parking spaces — one for standard and one for accessible use. The level 2 charger costs 20 cents per kilowatt-hour and will support NACS in the future while parking fees apply after a 15-minute grace period.  Loudoun Now
  • On June 3, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved a $5.4 million loan to TM Associates, Inc. + The Knustson Companies to build 72 affordable rental units at Goose Creek Village West Apartments for residents earning less than 70% of the Area Median Income. They also reauthorized loans for Old Arcola School Apartments, Tuscarora Crossing Apartments Phase 1, and Phase 2 with Wellington Development Partners, LLC + Cornerstones, Inc. to keep the projects affordable for 75 years.  Loudoun County

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Virginia Department of Health confirmed a possible measles exposure at Dulles International Airport on June 19 when an international traveler from North Carolina was diagnosed — leading officials to contact passengers who may have been in the affected areas.
