- ➤ Ashburn Pub in Ashburn Village Shopping Center celebrates 30 years of operation since it opened in 1995—making it the longest operating bar in Ashburn. - ➤ New Virginia laws will begin on July 1 and change rules for drivers, schools and tenants. They will make stealing mail a crime, require all grown-ups in moving cars to wear seat belts and ban drivers from doing stunts, while schools must limit cellphone use and notify parents within 24 hours if a student overdoses, sales of nitrous oxide devices to anyone under 18 are banned, the age for fantasy sports gambling is raised to 21 and police cannot use fake documents with minors (these changes help keep people safe) and landlords must offer a free way to pay rent (Gov. - ➤ On Thursday, the Lovettsville Town Council voted to revise the open space rules for new residential developments in town. The new ordinance requires projects with more than five lots to meet set open space ratios and mandates that subdivisions with over 20 lots set aside half the space for active recreation — changes that do not affect existing projects.
