- ➤ A proposal to convert flex-warehouse space near Sterling into data centers and a utility substation received a county Planning Commission recommendation of approval this week. The plan would rezone 17 acres to allow up to 600,000 square feet of data center use—staff raised issues with building design, transportation, and wildlife habitats that must be resolved before the project can move forward. - ➤ On July 10, Glenn Youngkin announced that ORBCOMM Inc.—a leader in industrial IoT—will set up its global headquarters in Sterling and invest up to $3 million to create at least 51 jobs pending Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approval on July 15. - ➤ Two Honduran nationals pleaded guilty to charges of illegally buying and shipping ammunition and firearm parts from a Sterling residence; Pinto Serrano (29) admitted to smuggling goods and remains under a 2013 removal order while both face sentencing on Sept. 24 with potential prison terms of up to 15 years.
