ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • JK Community Farm announced plans this month to build a food education center that would include private events—an idea the Land Trust of Virginia says violates the property's conservation easement. County planning confirmed that allowed agricultural uses remain in place while local residents and a neighborhood group express concerns about potential traffic and safety issues.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Loudoun County’s Department of Housing and Community Development will host free virtual lunch-and-learn sessions on fair housing law for those involved in housing from July through September. The sessions will run on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on July 23, August 20 and September 24 — covering mental health protections, assistance animal guidelines and safeguards against discrimination based on national origin.  Loudoun County
  • Leesburg released an updated resident guide (available in English and Spanish) that gives residents key details about local services. The guide will help community members access information on government programs and town resources.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
  • In June, Loudoun County supervisors sought to close the section of Church Street that runs through the downtown court complex after a security review and meeting with judges, but Leesburg Town Council members opposed the plan due to concerns over increased traffic and resident impact — council members will hold a closed session briefing next month to review safety issues — and they have made no public comments so far.  Loudoun Now
