- ➤ Construction is underway on Loudoun’s newest Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken restaurant at East Gate Shopping Center (near Highway 50 and Tall Cedars Parkway) where crews work in the former Marco’s Pizza space, and no official opening date has been set as it joins locations in Ashburn, Leesburg, and Sterling. - ➤ A new Peruvian restaurant, Machu Picchu Restobar, is coming to the Ashbrook Commons shopping center in Ashburn. The restaurant will offer full table service and a full bar in the 2,900 s.f. space that was vacant since the Ashburn Village Inn closed (last April) and is expected to open in August. The Burn
- ➤ The new 35,000 s.f. Crunch Fitness center opened earlier this month at Fort Evans Plaza II in Leesburg (near the intersection of Fort Evans Road NE and Battlefield Parkway NE) after last-minute delays and now occupies the space vacated by Ashley Furniture. The Burn

- ➤ Purcellville Vice Mayor Ben Nett was arrested on six felony warrants after a Virginia State Police investigation and later called the charges political persecution—he said his efforts to stabilize property taxes, lower residential water bills and curb overdevelopment made him a target. - ➤ Virginia State Police allege Purcellville Vice Mayor Ben Nett used a police database to research political opponents before his election and he was arrested Wednesday night and released on a $5,000 bond—both he and Town Manager Kwasi Fraser will appear before a Loudoun County Circuit judge Monday at 9 a.m. Loudoun Now

- ➤ Yesterday, Leesburg’s USTMA hosted students from South Korea in a cultural exchange that featured Taekwondo training, tours, home stays with local families, and game sessions. The five-day program will continue with more activities as special guests including Mayor Kelly Burk and Councilmember Neil Steinberg celebrated ties formed via a 2015 sistership — deepening community bonds. - ➤ Stacker compiled a ranking of Virginia counties by median household income using U.S. Census Bureau data. Loudoun County led the list with a median income of $178,707 and Falls Church ranked second—showing that counties near Washington D.C. earn more—according to the report. Inside Nova
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ In April, Loudoun County Public Schools said it would not certify that it does not follow certain diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, risking nearly $46 million in federal funding. County supervisors are considering stepping in to cover the loss, which helps pay for school meals, special education, operating costs + teacher salaries. Loudoun Now
- ➤ According to FOIA data from UC Berkley, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office turned over more than 90 undocumented immigrants to ICE in 2025. The data shows that over 40 of these individuals have been deported plus the releases are linked to local controversy over the 287(g) agreement with ICE. Loudoun Now
