  • SimplyBe Coffee will open a new stand in Purcellville mid-September after repurposing the former PNC Bank space inside the town’s Giant grocery store—offering hot drinks, cold brewed beverages, pastries and support for local employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The business is part of Tree of Life Ministries and already operates in downtown Leesburg.  The Burn
  • Leesburg resident Camille Hardy developed a baby food line called Chunky Vegan after researching nutritious foods for her son five years ago. Her product is made with plant-based ingredients and aims to give infants healthy options as they start solid foods.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

CRIME NEWS

  • Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery at Junction Plaza in Ashburn that occurred early Saturday morning on Aug 16—deputies said the suspect forced an employee to open a cash register at knifepoint and fled with less than $175 in cash and items while being described as a white or Hispanic male in all-black attire including a balaclava with white writing.  Loudoun Now
  • Southern States Cooperative petitioned Loudoun County Circuit Court on Aug 18 to approve a settlement in a wrongful death suit filed by the family of volunteer firefighter Trevor Brown, who died in a Feb 16 home explosion on Silver Ridge Drive. The settlement covers claims by Brown's widow and three children while other injured parties continue their case in Richmond— the company denies any negligence.  Loudoun Now

  • Purcellville Town Council is considering a change to raise the reimbursement rate for employee legal fees when a grievance appeal is granted—this new policy would apply only to future cases and not affect current claims—while council and HR officials debate the proposal amid recent controversy over Vice Mayor Ben Nett’s appeal.  Loudoun Now
