- ➤ Leesburg's county will host its annual Kids Fest on Labor Day with a petting zoo, food trucks, face painting, and a touch-a-truck. Families can enjoy free activities and fun at the event. Loudoun Times-Mirror
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ After The Arc of Loudoun lost its lease on Aug. 8 following 17 years of rent-free use of the Aurora School campus, teachers and parents protested in Leesburg as the nonprofit was locked out—Nova Day School representatives contacted the Paxton Trust on Aug. 18 to discuss offering services for affected families. The Arc plans to move Aurora School operations to the National Conference Center and is seeking legal action while the Paxton Trust explores options to include other child-service nonprofits. - ➤ Delegates JJ Singh from district 26, Marty Martinez from district 29, and Sen. Kannan Srinivasan from district 32 sent a letter to the State Corporation Commission urging Dominion Energy to underground its proposed Golden to Mars transmission line and study its necessity to protect local communities near Loudoun County Parkway—W&OD Trail and Dulles Airport. They asked the commission to analyze impacts like health risks, view loss, property values, noise and environmental damage ahead of public hearings on Sept. 18 and Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. Loudoun Now
- ➤ The feds have allocated over $11.7M for Dulles taxilane work and runway repairs at Leesburg Executive Airport from the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Leesburg received $4,930,500 for a $7.3M runway project and a status report will be reviewed on Sept. 9 at the Leesburg Town Council meeting — Dulles got $6,802,743 for taxilane upgrades. Loudoun Now
- ➤ Loudoun County published its FY 2026 Budget Story online to show how its new $4.7 billion budget will support public programs and the six-year Capital Improvement Program. Printed copies will be available at government centers, libraries, and community centers. Loudoun County
- ➤ Purcellville closed its proposal period for a town attorney last week and received only one bid—John Cafferky is stepping down due to increased town workload, and officials will now begin the evaluation process for an outside legal service. Loudoun Now
