  • Vicky Hu and Will Taggart from Loudoun Valley Estates say a planned power lines project will spoil their quality of life—arguing the project will harm their neighborhood and lower property values.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Qwench Juice Bar and DRNK coffee shop in Sterling have closed for good — the store’s sign is removed and equipment is being cleared out. The landlord now lists the 2,100 s.f. space as available, ending the California-based brand’s presence in the area.  The Burn
  • Dynasty Brewing Co. in Ashburn will close its taproom on August 31—after a seven-year run—with a final anniversary party on August 30, and beer production there will continue for a few more months. The company will keep its Leesburg taproom at 101 Loudoun Street SE and will contract brew its beers in the future.  The Burn
  • Greenheart Juice Shop's five locations in Leesburg, Aldie, Vienna, Arlington, and DC are in transition after closures were announced this weekend; employees reported that management hinted Toastique may take over some stores while South Block is also in talks—no final decision has been made yet.  The Burn

CRIME NEWS

  • After a joint investigation by the LCSO and FBI, a victim will get back nearly $2M in cryptocurrency stolen by scammers — who tricked the victim with unsolicited texts and a fake website — as federal authorities prepare to return the seized funds.  Loudoun Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Loudoun County Public Schools is using AI software called Gaggle to monitor students’ online activity and alert staff when it flags dangerous or concerning content. The program generated 7,605 notifications during the 2024–2025 school year—317 of which indicated a possible student danger while also blocking access to sites with adult or violent material.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, County Chair Phyllis J. Randall and Supervisor Laura A. TeKrony updated St. Louis community members on the revised village plan that sets policies on water, heritage, infrastructure and land use to guide future changes—residents will provide more zoning feedback before the Sept. 10 public hearing at 6 p.m. at the County Government Center in Leesburg.  Loudoun Now
  • U.S. Rep. Suhas Subramanyam introduced legislation to rename a Sterling post office in honor of volunteer firefighter Trevor Brown—who died in the line of duty last year. The bill still needs approval before becoming law.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
