  • Community members provided thousands of backpacks for Loudoun County Public Schools to help ease the financial stress on parents buying supplies this back-to-school season.   • Ms. Peach’s Southern Kitchen will open on Tuesday, September 2 at 4 p.m. at Sterling’s Great Falls Plaza—taking over the former Locals Tacos & Tequila space—after postponing its planned August 26 opening, and it will serve Southern favorites like Deviled Eggs, Fried Green Tomatoes, Southern Fried Chicken, Blue Catfish, and a Grilled Peach Salad.  The Burn
  • Google is planning to build a new data center in Loudoun County as part of a $9B statewide investment that will expand its data centers through 2026.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

  • Erin Moore is Loudoun County’s new human resources director effective September 11; she was chosen in a nationwide search and brings over 20 years of federal HR leadership experience—she will lead efforts to recruit and retain county employees.  Loudoun County
  • Residents of the Broad Run Farms community met at the Galilee United Methodist Church in Sterling on August 26 to voice their frustration over an upcoming zoning enforcement vote+ they warned that the proposed changes might harm the neighborhood.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

SPORTS NEWS

  • Entries opened Tuesday at Morven Park for the International and Fall Horse Trials—a four-day event running from Oct. 9 to Oct. 12 that offers $200,000 in prize money and draws about 55 riders from the US, Canada, and other nations with free admission for spectators.  Loudoun Now
  • Virginia Vitesse, the only women's semiprofessional basketball team in Loudoun County, made the playoffs in its first season as owner Ashley Koranteng (28) said she aims for the team to win the regional championships and reach the Final Four. The team is set to play its last home game Sunday against the Richmond Roadrunners in Ashburn.  WTOP
