- ➤ The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office warned Leesburg residents to check their electric bikes for recalls after an e-bike caught fire on Cannon Ct early Wednesday—its battery failure caused about $10,000 in damages, burned a resident, and displaced two residents and one dog. - ➤ The LCSO launched a new online dashboard on Aug. 28 that helps Leesburg residents view crime data and understand local trends—providing a clearer picture of public safety. Loudoun Times-Mirror
- ➤ Deputies responded on Thursday at 9:12 p.m. to an armed robbery report at Sugarland Run Square shopping center—searching on foot for a suspect while detectives interviewed witnesses at 10:45 p.m. Loudoun Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Briar Woods and Tuscarora High Schools held a white coat ceremony at Tuscarora on Aug. 18 to honor 134 HAMSci students who began their studies in health careers. Funding was provided by partners from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, Loudoun Education Foundation, and Inova Health System – support that opens pathways for future professionals. - ➤ The Arc received a $300,000 gift from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation to move The Aurora School from the Paxton campus to a new home at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne.
