- ➤ Leesburg Executive Airport will host its annual airshow on Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.—the event will show modern and vintage aircraft displays, radio-controlled demonstrations, aerobatic performances starting at 1 p.m., educational activities, and food vendors with free admission and shuttle and parking options available. - ➤ Claude Moore Park is hosting its 17th Annual Fall Fest and Photo Expo on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 21544 Old Vestals Gap Road—visitors enjoy handmade crafts, pumpkin painting, live music, a petting zoo and free admission while food is sold and parking is provided from the Loudoun Park Lane entrance. - ➤ The Loudoun Sketch Club will host its annual art show at Oatlands from Oct. 18 through Nov. 16—local and regional artists will display work to help preserve the historic site, and a free sneak-preview reception is planned on Oct. 17 from 5–7 p.m. A meet the artists event will be held on Oct. 18 from 1–3 p.m. Blue Ridge Leader
- ➤ The Loudoun Arts Directory is being updated during September as the Loudoun Arts Council invites local artists, venues and instructors to sign up for a free listing + those who join the council can add extra details. Blue Ridge Leader
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The State Corporation Commission has scheduled public hearings on a Dominion Energy proposal to build electric transmission facilities in eastern Loudoun, including the Golden to Mars transmission lines and the Lockridge and Sojourner loops. Loudoun County has filed a notice of participation + urging residents to join the in-person hearings at Rock Ridge High School on Sept. 18 and Sept. 29 or the telephone session on Dec. 15 with pre-registration due by Dec. 9. - ➤ Loudoun County officials remembered former Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Eleanore Towe—who died August 25 at 87—for her dedicated service in the community. She served two terms, helped form the Round Hill Area Citizen’s Association, and played a key role in shaping local growth with the Revised Comprehensive Plan, Franklin Park, and 28 new schools, with her family planning a celebration later. - ➤ Loudoun County is asking property owners in unincorporated areas if they want clean, consistent garbage removal via new sanitary districts+ the county will use an online survey open until October 24 to help decide if a petition with 55% support should be started. Eligible residents must complete the survey to have a say in improving local trash services and reducing traffic on residential streets. Loudoun County

- ➤ Loudoun County will celebrate Recovery Month by hosting two free community events in Leesburg—one is the Loudoun Recovery Festival on September 13 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Douglass Community Center and the other is the Shatter the Stigma 5K Run on September 20 starting at 9:00 a.m. at Morven Park with wellness vendors present. - ➤ The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital is collecting donations this weekend for its 86th Annual Rummage Sale with drop-offs on Sept. 13th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne, Inova Loudoun Medical Campus in Cornwall, and Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville. Items will be sold on Oct. 18th and Oct. 19th at the Loudoun County Fairgrounds with a VIP shopping event on Oct. 17th, and net proceeds will support hospital care & nursing scholarships. Inside Nova
