EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Hill School in Middleburg announced that its Centennial Campaign surpassed a $15M goal—raising over $17M from more than 400 donors. The school will use the funds to expand faculty housing, enhance tuition assistance, and improve innovative learning ahead of its 100th anniversary celebrations in 2026.  Loudoun Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the State Corporation Commission holds the first local public hearing at Rock Ridge High School on Dominion Energy’s power line proposal from Golden to near Dulles — residents must register 15 minutes early to offer up to five minutes of testimony, and a second hearing will be held on Sept. 29 with a telephone session on Oct. 27.  Loudoun Now
  • The Loudoun County Clerk’s Jury Management Team has mailed 55,000 questionnaire postcards to local residents to build a list of qualified jurors for service in 2026 and will continue sending them through September. Recipients must use a QR code to access a secure online portal to complete the form—this step is not a summons for jury duty.  Loudoun County
  • Gov. Youngkin signed Executive Order 53 to add new election security rules in Virginia by having the Department of Elections work with federal agencies (Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Election Assistance Commission) to secure voter data and update checks before early voting starts Sept. 19. The order requires a statewide preparedness exercise and mandates that voting machines pass multiple accuracy tests to help local offices maintain accurate voter lists.  Inside Nova

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Board of Supervisors approved a project for 518 housing units and commercial space along Evergreen Mills Road south of Leesburg on Tuesday night—this plan includes 496 detached units, 22 attached units, a gas station, a drive-through restaurant and road widening improvements for safer travel. The project also calls for a five-acre orchard and a maintenance plan to preserve an early 1800s manor house on the nearly 175-acre site.  Loudoun Now
