  • The Purcellville Tag Sale will take place on Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.—rain or shine, organizer Silas said, and it is expected to draw thousands.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
  • The Purcellville Tag Sale will take place on Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature about 125 vendors who now must offer only physical products along with new food choices and a live music performance. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday, Oct 3, a house fire broke out at a Mayfair Drive duplex in Leesburg when an overheated extension cord powering a space heater ignited nearby materials—firefighters quickly put out the blaze, ensuring all occupants and three cats remained safe while three residents were displaced and damages were estimated at $65,000 with an extra $15,000 in smoke damage.  Loudoun Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dash In has filed documents with Loudoun County showing interest in a new site for its gas station and convenience store at Ashburn Crossing — near the intersection of Loudoun County Parkway and Gloucester Parkway. The proposal, which includes a one-story building with gas pumps and a car wash, is in the early planning stage and may not move forward.  The Burn

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Loudoun County Public Schools removed several student violations from the list that requires staff to file reports, including using slurs, sexual remarks, and internet policy breaches. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said it remains concerned about these changes—urging the district to notify law enforcement when similar offenses occur.  Loudoun Now
  • Loudoun County School Board updated its charter school policy to allow funding requests for facility upgrades through the Capital Improvement Program—ending previous limits on campus improvements. The change lets schools include essential infrastructure needs in their current agreements to better secure a safe learning environment.  WTOP

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Leesburg residents are invited to dispose of household hazardous waste at a drive-through event on Saturday, October 11 at the Leesburg Park and Ride on Gourley Transit Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.—each household is limited to 15 gallons of liquid and 40 pounds of solid waste and must show proof of residency.  Loudoun County
  • The Board of Supervisors in western Loudoun are working to balance zoning rules as conservationists and rural businesses present different views on development. County officials will hold further talks with residents + industry leaders to find common ground on land use.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
