- ➤ County staff will hold a public information meeting on expanding Franklin Park by 130 acres on Oct 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Round Hill Elementary School in Round Hill — the project calls for rezoning 120 acres for park use and will be discussed by county departments and the Town of Round Hill. - ➤ County leaders, residents and community groups announced a joint proposal today to bury a segment of the Dominion-proposed Golden to Mars transmission line underground—starting at the Golden substation near Rt 28 and the W&OD Trail and running southeast to a new substation east of Dulles Airport. Local officials and community members support the plan to protect nearby schools and homes while seeking solutions for technical, cost and environmental challenges. Loudoun Now

- ➤ Loudoun County Public Schools mourned the loss of Sugarland Run Elementary teacher Todd Funkhouser — who died in a hiking accident on the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls Park on Oct. 13 after suffering a cardiac event — as medics confirmed his death. Loudoun Now

- ➤ Wonder is planning to open its first food hall in Loudoun County at Fort Evans Plaza II in Leesburg where a nearly 3,600 s.f. space at 528 Fort Evans Road NE—formerly a martial arts studio—will be converted into a fast-growing concept with about 20 dine-in seats. - ➤ Former Buffalo Bills player Edward Wang is opening Torus Bagels at Ashburn Village Shopping Center in the unit once occupied by Jimmy’s John’s.
