- ➤ Students from Leesburg Elementary School won the town's Paint the Plow contest with an Alice in Wonderland-themed design that earned 1,055 votes while Catoctin and Smarts Mill placed second and third; the winners will receive a cash award and see their plows featured in the town's Christmas and Holiday parade in December— marking a memorable local event. - ➤ John and Lindsay Hill said the DMV Chocolate & Coffee Festival will hold its final event at the Dulles Expo Center from Nov. 15 to 16 as the venue will close for a new IKEA store at the end of the year. The organizers will review new venues to keep the festival serving over 10,000 people and more than 200 small businesses. Inside Nova
- ➤ Members of the Sons of the American Revolution honored five additional local patriots at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church near Lovettsville on Nov. 2 by placing stone markers at 33 burial plots. The group will erect a monument at the church later this month to list all recognized patriots (the ceremony highlighted those who paid the supply tax to support the war). Loudoun Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Loudoun County School Board will hold a public hearing and work session Wednesday, November 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the School Administration Building in Ashburn to review plans to change elementary school attendance zones in the Dulles North and Ashburn areas. Final decisions will be made in mid-December and, if approved, changes will take effect in fall 2026—possibly delaying the opening of a new school in Brambleton. Loudoun Now
- ➤ Loudoun County Public Schools is proposing to add $124 million in capital improvements to support the nearly tripled number of schools, which grew from 37 in 1997 to 101 today. Loudoun Times-Mirror

- ➤ The main entrance to the Loudoun County landfill in Leesburg will be closed for concrete replacement from November 10 to November 21, and customers must use an alternate entrance at 21101 Evergreen Mills Road — services will continue Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Loudoun County

- ➤ Inova Virts Miller Family Emergency and Trauma Center at Inova Loudoun Hospital is hosting a free, in-person Stop the Bleed workshop tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the Ladies Board Education Center—where community members will learn how to use tourniquets and pack wounds to help stop serious bleeding.
