  • On Tuesday, patients at Inova Loudoun Hospital enjoyed Santa Claus' helicopter visit as he traded his reindeer for a medivac ride that lifted spirits (PHI Aviation escorted him). Santa returns on Dec. 17 with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.  Loudoun Now
  • Loudoun County offers free Parenting Wisely support sessions to help families manage youth behavioral challenges—teen and young-child editions are available in English and Spanish, with teen sessions starting virtual Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2026 and young-child sessions beginning virtual Thursdays on Jan. 15, 2026.  Loudoun County

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Loudoun County Public Library is hosting its annual Short Story Contest from Dec. 15 to Feb. 15, inviting participants to submit stories of 3,000 words or fewer for cash prizes and a chance to be featured as an e-book, with awards presented by best-selling author Meg Medina.  Loudoun Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Monday, Dec. 8, the Loudoun County School Board held its final hearing on proposed attendance zone changes for Ashburn & Dulles North elementary schools with over 100 community members in attendance, and the board will vote on a final plan next Tuesday.  Loudoun Now
  • The LCPS board has proposed shifting students between elementary schools to balance enrollment amid declining numbers + officials say the plan avoids the need for expensive new construction. Some parents expressed anger over the rezoning plan.  Loudoun Times-Mirror
  • The Loudoun County School Board’s Performance Monitoring Committee reviewed data Tuesday showing a rise in English learner proficiency from 53.9% last year to 55.6% this year, with Sterling Middle School and Park View High School reporting significant gains.   • Juleps Kentucky Tavern, a new southern-style restaurant, released a menu featuring Deviled Duck Eggs, Shrimp & Grits Bites, and Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop. The eatery will occupy the former Blackfinn Ameripub space at Loudoun Station center, and its opening day will be announced soon.  The Burn
