COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members met along the Potomac on Dec. 30 to push for reopening White’s Ferry—a historic link that once cut a 30-minute commute in Poolesville. Local leaders urged private and government partners to reach an agreement and restore the service to boost local commerce.  Loudoun Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Virginia ABC reported that Tito’s Handmade Vodka led fiscal 2025 sales with $75 million in purchases while tequilas and bourbons also grew. Stores will remain open until 8 p.m. today and operate from noon to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day.  Inside Nova
  • Massaya Lebanese Restaurant and Bar closed at Goose Creek Village center in Ashburn — a new Greek and Mediterranean restaurant called The Athenian will soon open on the center's lower level facing Sycolin Road.  The Burn
  • Oak and Ember, a new upscale tasting room and market at 39285 Little River Turnpike in Aldie (site of the former Black Market), will have a soft opening Friday, Jan. 2 and officially open Jan. 7; owner Christian Puccio plans farm-to-table dishes and local goods.  The Burn

CULTURE NEWS

  • Lightridge High School Marching Storm band has begun planning for a New Year's Day parade in London in 2027 — the group is coordinating travel and fundraising efforts after receiving an invitation to join the event.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jon Pepper will begin a four-year term as the Dulles District School Board member on Jan. 1 (replacing Melinda Mansfield). He aims to boost student safety, transparency, rezoning efforts and STEM programs as the Board holds its annual meeting on Jan. 6.  Loudoun Now
  • Loudoun County Public Libraries will expand Sunday hours starting Jan. 4. The change will give local residents more time to visit branches and enjoy library programs.  Loudoun Times-Mirror

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Redfin Real Estate released a ranking of Virginia’s most competitive housing markets based on data from January to October 2025; Leesburg’s market averaged 25.19 days on market and a 100.8 percent sale list ratio.
