EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Loudoun County Public Schools created a new Career, Technical and Adult Education department led by Michael Grubbs and will unveil a five-year plan to expand career education to all 17 career clusters across the county. Programs like Job for a Day and the Health and Medical Sciences Academy showed strong participation, and new efforts — including ACCESS and a summer work program — will start next school year to boost work-based learning. - ➤ A public hearing will be held at the division—administration building from April 28 to May 1 after parents Caroline and Vincent Prisciandaro filed a complaint alleging that Loudoun County Public Schools did not follow special education rules, leaving their high school son reading at a third-grade level. - ➤ Middleburg officials are reviewing proposals to update water restrictions and study a tiered rate plan to cope with severe drought, and water customers may face limits of 150 gallons a day or a 10% use reduction for businesses—noncompliance could lead to doubled bills or service shutoff.
